Pope urges fast for peace
Wednesday, March 5, 2003 Posted: 8:31 AM EST (1331 GMT) The pope is sending a letter to Bush in an effort to avoid war in Iraq. VATICAN CITY -- Pope John Paul II has called on the world's one billion Catholics to observe Ash Wednesday with fasting and prayer to avert a "dramatic conflict" in Iraq. At the same time, the leader of the Catholic community has sent a peace envoy to Washington to urge U.S. President George W. Bush to step back from the brink of war. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period before Easter during which the faithful fast and seek penitence. This year the pontiff is asking Catholics to dedicate the Ash Wednesday fast for the cause of peace. The Anglican Church is also observing a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Iraq. Fast Till USofA Withdraws ---------------------------------------- "Get your troops OUT of the Middle East" For anyone who is able, please fast one day a week (preferably Saturday i.e. the Jewish Sabbath) until the USofA withdraws its troops from the Middle East and pray that the Holy Spirit/God Almighty/Allah/Jehovah works in the hearts and minds of the bush/blair contingent to teach them to make peace [stop the bush/blair blare], which means initially to stop threatening war, stop the media war campaign, stop upsetting the Pope, and stop stiffing* the United Nations. [I believe the USofA is still past due in their UN dues; if I am right about that why is dubya not pushing a bill through Congress to PAY the dues of the organization he is trying to bulldoze?] PALESTINE ALWAYS AND FOREVER -- Arabs and Jews CAN live together in peace and the country IS Palestine. * "If and when the three payments [approved by USCongress] are completed, they will total just about $926 million -- far less than the amount that the United Nations considers the United States to owe. The United States does not acknowledge another $700 million in arrears claimed by the United Nations - an amount that largely reflects the fact that the United States has limited its payments to the peacekeeping fund to 25 percent in recent years, while the United Nations billed it for 31 percent. Journal of Aerospace and Defense Industry News Feb. 9th, 2001 "Laughable in their obviousness" -------------------------------- Criminal Foreign Policy Fritz Hollings, (D-South Carolina, US Senator), /that redneck/ put their obviousness into words today by saying to Collin Powell "Why go to all the trouble of an expensive war; why not put together a 'hit team' and do away with Saddam Hussein?" to which Powell responded NOT that that is a violation of US foreign policy, or that it flies in the face of the Executive Order against political assassinations or not even that it is unworthy of a great and civilized nation, but that Saddam has had thirty years to put together an impenetrable security force. /They know it's impenetrable because they have tried unsuccessfully to assassinate Saddam on several occasions! ALLAHU AKBAR/ Look's like they are still "pissing and moaning" about the success of Saddam Hussein! Would that they would listen. . . "Make peace with Saddam and that's an order" the Word of the Lord. "The fervent prayer of righteous people availeth much." RIGHT CAN AND WILL TRIUMPH OVER MIGHT Jean M.
